scrollHaving a Strategic Plan in place is very important, because Campaign goals must reflect the long-term Mission and Vision of your organization. In some cases, we find that it is important for a Board to defer plans for a capital campaign for four-to-six months until they can get the basics of a Strategic Plan in place. They will often ask us to help facilitate that process so that they can get it done without delay and get it right in an efficient process.

What is most important, even if a full-fledged plan is not in place, is to develop a “Vision Statement.” This can often be a first step that gets all the key stakeholders in sync and allows for the initial campaign assessment and organization to go forward simultaneously. There is no certain rule about having a Strategic Plan in place, but the framework must be there, even when the Plan is being updated on an annual basis.
